Below is an outline of how the upcoming Thanksgiving will affect YRC’s service:


Thursday, November 26th (Thanksgiving Day) and Friday, November 27th (Thanksgiving Day After) will be nationally recognized LTL and Time-Critical / Accelerated in-transit holidays for YRC Freight.  

 

Pickup and delivery service for Time-Critical services are available by contacting the Customer Support Team (1-800-610-6500) in advance to quote and book the shipment.

 

  • It is our intent to pick-up and deliver Time-Critical shipments on the holiday if requested. There are procedures in place to ensure we are properly compensated for these services and we do not want to miss any opportunities.
  • When the pickups / deliveries must be made by road drivers due to a service center being closed, it will be the responsibility of the local service team to coordinate the plan.

 

Impacts to YRC Freight Guaranteed Standard Services:

Guaranteed PM (GDEL) and Multiday Window (GWIN) shipments

  • Thursday, November 26th (Thanksgiving Day) and Friday, November 27th (Thanksgiving Day After) are LTL service holidays which adds 2 additional days to the service calculation for Guaranteed Standard shipments since November 26th and 27th will not be counted as service days.
    • Example: A Guaranteed by 5 PM (GDEL) shipment with a 3-day service standard picked up on Monday, November 23 will be scheduled to deliver on Monday, November 30.
    • Example: A Guaranteed by 5 PM (GDEL) shipment with a 3-day service standard picked-up on Wednesday, November 25 will be scheduled to deliver on Wednesday, December 2.
    • Example: A Guaranteed by 5 PM (GDEL) shipment with a 4-day service standard picked-up on Tuesday, November 24 will be scheduled to deliver on Wednesday, December 2.

 

Impacts to YRC Freight Time-Critical & Accelerated Services:

  • Thursday, November 26th (Thanksgiving Day) and Friday, November 27th (Thanksgiving Day After) will be Time-Critical / Accelerated in-transit holidays which adds 2 additional days to the Time-Critical and Accelerated service since November 26th and November 27th will not be counted as service days.
    • Example: A quote-free Time-Critical by 5 PM shipment with a 4-day Time-Critical service standard picked up on Monday, November 23 will be scheduled to deliver on Monday, November 30.
    • Example: A quote-free Accelerated shipment with a 4-day Accelerated service standard picked up on Monday, November 23 will be scheduled to deliver on Tuesday, December 1.
    • Example: A quote-free Time-Critical by 5 PM shipment with a 3-day Time-Critical service standard picked up on Wednesday, November 25 will be scheduled to deliver on Tuesday, December 1.
    • Example: A quote-free Accelerated shipment with a 3-day Accelerated service standard picked up on Wednesday, November 25 will be scheduled to deliver on Wednesday, December 2.

 

  • Customers must call in advance for a quote if a Time-Critical pick-up or delivery is required on November 26th (Thanksgiving Day) or November 27th (Thanksgiving Day After).

 

A holiday charge will apply for Time-Critical shipments requiring a pick-up or delivery on November 26th (Thanksgiving Day) or November 27th (Thanksgiving Day After
