Hello Everyone,
- With weather challenges across the country, we must be extra cautious with freezable shipments.
- Properly identifying these during driver check-in is crucial. If a shipment is destined for an affected area without available storage or protection, hold it at origin and, if possible, notify the paying party or shipper.
- While the Linehaul planner marks freezable shipments, outbound teams must stay vigilant. If unsure, check with destination terminals and breaks. When in doubt, hold it for a day to develop a plan. We would rather fail a day on service opposed to freezing and paying a claim.
- Keep your RVP and DOM informed for coordination.
- Use heated trailers on the correct lanes, ensuring they are fueled and checked before departure.
- Any direct trailers bound for WI, MN, ND, MT, ID, WY, or CO must be on a heated trailer or held at origin to prevent freezing. This list will change and grow as shown below.
- Pick up freezable shipments and hold them at origin unless the terminal cannot store or protect them—this is not an embargo unless the origin is unable to handle them or store them effectively.
- Keep the sales team informed so they can communicate with customers.
Thanks.
