I was a supervisor for a top 40 US trucking company. I worked in their brokerage, handling a team in their transportation management sector. I supported their offsite agents with their clients in the LTL industry. My team was customer service, vendor compliance, accounting, claims…you name it, it was me and my team for their clients.

Onboarding new clients to the Target Freight Management program, whether it’s LTL, Freight Audit & Pay, Transportation Management System (TMS) use. Working on TMS setups/changes for clients old or new. Working with clients to help navigate their transportation issues or cut costs in their business. Working with my peers to find solutions to combat the crazy transportation issues which arise. It’s all encompassing!

The most interesting problem has to be when we upgraded to our new TFM TMS platform. Many people don’t like change, but through conversations and learning about the processes at our clients’ companies, I was able to show our clients how our new TMS can work better for them. This helped me build stronger relationships with our clients by learning more about their processes or just listening to them vent about change, lol. It was a great experience, and it helps TFM build solid relationships with our clients when we know more about a company than just what the data tells us.

Kayak, craft, hang out with my niece and nephews, or just lay low at home with my family.

Two things.

  1. It’s always changing. There is constantly new discussion on how we can improve our TMS or our company to better assist our clients, new or old. We build the technology ourselves, so I can have conversations with the actual creators about the issues my clients are experiencing. We don’t have to navigate within a box.
  2. The relationships I have built. I work off-site, but I’m still building strong working relationships with my peers. Without those relationships, the ups and downs of this crazy transportation industry would really be hard to handle.
